One of the zebra that escaped from circus was shot dead in Germany after causing a traffic accident. Police from the northern city of Rostock said that before the zebra was shot by officers it had distorted traffic, forced temporary closure of the high way, damaged cars and caused an accident on the A20 motorway on Wednesday.
The second zebra which escaped was detained. It is still questionable on how these two animals fled from the circus in northern Germany on Tuesday evening.
Police alerted on Twitter on Wednesday morning that one of the runaway zebras had caused an accident on the A20 highway.
A police spokesperson told Deutsche Welle that the animal was going in a wrong direction on the highway and they said that no one was hurt in the crash that happened when one car braked to avoid the animal forcing another to collide with it.
After the officers and circus tamer’s vigorous attempt to capture the zebra failed, it was later shot near the municipality of Thelkow.
The second zebra was evidently taken back to the circus.
